Hi, Iām Leone.
I was raised in Northern NSW Australia, on Bundjalung Country. Byron Bay Art Life represents a natural extension of a lifelong love of Art, Nature, and Well-being. It is a project designed from my own need for authentic connection with others and a desire to relax and play in the field of possibility that Art provides.
As an advocate for the transformative power of art on both individual and cultural levels, I draw inspiration from other artists, masters, and contemporary artists as well as our natural ecosystems.
I studied Illustration at the Queensland College of Art under the guidance of acclaimed illustrators Armin Greder and Chris McKimmie. I earned a Bachelor of Visual Arts in Illustration, primarily working with mixed media and eventually contributing to private collections in the USA, New Zealand, and Australia.
Spending five years at the Anahata Retreat Centre in New Zealand enhanced my mindfulness capabilities and allowed me to develop a creative process informed by yoga and permaculture. This period culminated in the curation of a number of collaborative exhibitions and workshops. Subsequently, I spent two years as Artist in Residence at The Permaforest Trust in Barkers Vale NSW, exploring Chaos, Emergence and Integral systems in relation to art practice. In 2005, I completed an honours thesis in Visual Arts at Southern Cross University under the supervision of John Smith.
My pursuit of a deeper understanding of the human experience led me to the study of Psychology. I am fascinated by the vast interior landscape of emotions, narratives, human mythology, and meaning-making. Visual exploration can tap into understanding beyond words. Drawing on trauma-informed therapeutic methods such as CBT/Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Compassion-Focused Therapy, mindfulness-based strategies, polyvagal theory and EMDR. I offer individualised counselling sessions where Art therapy often enriches the process.
I am a registered and practising Psychologist. Currently, my professional focus involves working with individuals to process difficult life experiences, gaining perspective on challenges, and acquiring valuable skills to navigate the complexities of life.
